Microtech – 1120-10 – Ultratech Gen III ZBP – OTF Auto – M390MK Stonewash Bayonet – Aluminum – Black

The Microtech 1120-10 Ultratech Gen III ZBP represents a new chapter in the evolution of Microtech’s flagship out-the-front (OTF) automatic knife. Designed with a focus on precision engineering, smooth operation, and ergonomic handling, this third-generation Ultratech incorporates the Zero Blade Play (ZBP) system and a series of refinements intended to enhance the overall user experience. Combining a premium M390MK steel blade, a contoured aircraft aluminum handle, and an upgraded internal drive mechanism, this model delivers a modern interpretation of one of Microtech’s best-known knife designs. The Ultratech Gen III ZBP is engineered for users who appreciate the convenience and distinctive functionality of an OTF knife. Its double-action mechanism allows the blade to deploy and retract through the front of the handle using the integrated thumb switch. The updated drive system is designed to provide a notably smooth and controlled action, making deployment and retraction easier and more fluid. A key feature of the Gen III ZBP is its Zero Blade Play design, which is intended to minimize blade movement when the knife is deployed. This refined construction contributes to a more secure, precise feel during operation. The model also incorporates stainless steel Torx hardware, reflecting the attention to detail in its construction. The 1120-10 features a 3.5-inch blade crafted from M390MK stainless steel, a premium blade steel valued for its wear resistance, edge retention, and corrosion resistance. With a 3.2-inch cutting edge, the blade provides a practical cutting surface while maintaining the streamlined profile that defines the Ultratech series. The knife’s exterior is built around a premium aircraft aluminum handle with a contoured chassis designed to improve comfort and ergonomics. Its smooth, flat finish gives the knife a clean, understated appearance while keeping the overall design lightweight. Weighing approximately 3.5 ounces, the Ultratech Gen III ZBP is designed to be easy to carry without adding unnecessary bulk. One of the most notable upgrades is the redesigned thumb switch, which rides on a milled platform. This configuration helps disrupt the accumulation of pocket lint and debris around the switch mechanism, reducing friction and helping maintain consistent operation. The design also aims to reduce the frequency of cleaning required for reliable everyday use. Additional refinements include a milled titanium pocket clip equipped with ceramic ball details and a newly designed stainless steel glass breaker. These components complement the knife’s updated construction and provide practical features in a compact, thoughtfully engineered package. With its combination of advanced blade steel, refined deployment mechanism, ergonomic aluminum chassis, and carefully selected hardware, the Microtech Ultratech Gen III ZBP 1120-10 is a distinctive addition to the Ultratech family. It is suited to collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate precision-machined construction, premium materials, and the distinctive operation of a modern OTF automatic knife.
