CRKT – 2474 – Squid – Folding Knife – D2 Stonewash Drop Point – G10 – Black

The CRKT 2474 Squid is a compact everyday carry folding knife designed by Lucas Burnley of Bend, Oregon, combining a distinctive, pistol-inspired profile with practical cutting performance and convenient portability. Designed for users who appreciate a small, capable knife that fits comfortably into a daily routine, the Squid delivers a thoughtful balance of durability, functionality, and modern styling. Its compact dimensions make it easy to carry in a pocket, while its capable blade design provides the versatility needed for a variety of everyday cutting tasks. At the heart of the CRKT 2474 is a 2.27-inch drop-point blade crafted from D2 tool steel. Known for its excellent wear resistance and ability to maintain a working edge, D2 is a popular choice for users who want dependable cutting performance over repeated use. The drop-point configuration offers a practical balance between a controllable point and a useful cutting edge, making it well suited to opening packages, cutting cord, preparing materials, and handling other routine utility tasks. A stonewashed finish gives the blade a subdued, rugged appearance while helping to disguise the minor scratches and signs of wear that can develop during regular use. Friction grooves along the blade provide additional tactile feedback when positioning the thumb during controlled cutting operations. One of the most notable updates to this Squid model is its button-lock mechanism, featured in the 2025 version described here. The button lock provides a convenient method of securing and releasing the blade, offering an alternative to more traditional folding-knife locking systems. Combined with the integrated thumb stud, it allows the user to deploy the blade quickly and efficiently. The IKBS ball-bearing pivot system further contributes to smooth blade movement, helping the knife open with a fluid, refined action. Together, these features create a folding knife that feels responsive and practical without sacrificing the compact character that defines the Squid design. The handle is constructed from black G10, a durable composite material valued for its strength, dimensional stability, and resistance to moisture and changing environmental conditions. Its compact shape supports a comfortable, secure grip while keeping the overall knife manageable for everyday pocket carry. At just 2.90 ounces, the CRKT 2474 offers a substantial feel without becoming unnecessarily burdensome. A tip-up pocket clip configured for right-side carry helps keep the knife accessible, while the integrated lanyard hole provides another option for attaching a fob or lanyard. Designed for everyday utility rather than unnecessary bulk, the CRKT Squid 2474 is a practical choice for collectors, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a compact folding knife with modern opening and locking features. Its combination of D2 steel, a button lock, IKBS bearings, and a G10 handle makes it a distinctive addition to the CRKT lineup.
