CRKT – 2495GR – Squid XM – Folding Knife – D2 Stonewash Drop Point – Micarta – Green

The CRKT 2495GR Squid XM is a compact, performance-driven everyday carry folding knife designed by Lucas Burnley of Bend, Oregon. Combining a rugged, tactical-inspired appearance with practical cutting capabilities, this updated version of the popular Squid XM series delivers dependable functionality in a convenient, pocket-friendly package. Its distinctive design emphasizes durability, comfortable handling, and efficient deployment, making it a versatile choice for everyday cutting chores, outdoor activities, and general utility applications. At the heart of the Squid XM is a 2.95-inch drop-point blade constructed from D2 tool steel. Known for its excellent wear resistance and ability to maintain a sharp cutting edge through repeated use, D2 is a popular choice for users who value long-lasting cutting performance. The drop-point profile provides a useful balance of point strength, control, and cutting versatility, making it well suited for opening packages, cutting cordage, preparing materials, and managing a variety of routine tasks. A stonewashed blade finish gives the knife a subdued, rugged appearance while helping conceal minor scratches and signs of regular use. Friction grooves on the blade provide an additional contact point for improved control during handling. One of the defining updates to the CRKT 2495GR is its button-lock mechanism, introduced for the 2025 version. This locking system provides a convenient way to secure the blade in the open position during use and release it when it is time to close the knife. A thumb stud allows for straightforward, one-handed blade deployment, while the IKBS ball-bearing pivot system promotes smooth, fluid operation. Together, these features create a responsive opening experience without requiring an assisted-opening mechanism. The handle features green Micarta, a durable material appreciated for its distinctive appearance, comfortable feel, and practical performance in everyday environments. Its textured character complements the stonewashed blade and reinforces the knife’s utilitarian styling. Measuring 4.11 inches in handle length, the Squid XM offers a compact yet substantial grip for its overall size. The handle design balances portability with practical handling, while the knife’s 3.50-ounce weight makes it suitable for regular pocket carry. Additional convenience comes from a tip-up pocket clip configured for right-side carry and an integrated lanyard hole for attaching a fob or compatible lanyard. These details give users flexible carry options while keeping the knife accessible when needed. With an overall length of 7.03 inches when open, the CRKT Squid XM delivers a capable cutting platform without the bulk of a larger folding knife. Whether added to an everyday carry rotation or selected as a practical tool for routine cutting needs, the CRKT 2495GR Squid XM combines Lucas Burnley’s compact design philosophy with modern locking technology, dependable D2 steel, and a durable Micarta handle. Its thoughtful combination of materials, deployment features, and carry options makes it an appealing choice for users who appreciate a streamlined folder with a rugged personality.
